10/14/15 #coffeeneuring with sprite on Block Island - Rudi Riet's 8.0 mi bike ride
On our vacation, one of the agreed-to activities was beach time. And since neither of us had ever been to Block Island, we decided to get our beach time and some coffeeneuring done at the same time. The wind was steady and a bit brisk, but we took our time and did some sightseeing on our 8 mile loop. We had lunch at a brewpub that was in the throes of shutting down for the season (read: limited menu). We visited a farm that had all sorts of animals, as well as a small herd of alpacas and a yarn store. The beach we visited was at Mohegan Bluffs, which required descending an Escher-esque staircase, then doing a bit of a rock scramble. But the view was very much worth the trouble. Our coffee today was actually hot cocoa enjoyed on the ferry back to Point Judith, after enjoying the last of the sunset (and new moon) views from the upper deck over the boat.
