Great Dunn Fell
GREAT DUN FELL - SUNDAY 2 JULY During the Wok and Rice winter meet earlier this year I put forward a suggestion that we could combine mountaineering and cycling by tackling an ascent of the highest tarmacked road in England, to the summit of Great Dun Fell, at a height of around 840m. I have plotted a route which departs from Sedbergh and returns via Kirby Stephen, Lamps Moss and Buttertubs, although it is possible to avoid the two climbs on the return. You can view the route at and I am more than happy to take suggestions for alternatives. It’s a big day on the bike and I propose to leave Tebay at 8.30am. If anybody is interested in joining the fun, please let me know. Please also feel free to spread the word as it would be great to get a big group up there. There will be cafe stops! See you there, Dave
